Mixed-Age Program at Morse (Ages 4–10)

The Young Engineers After-School Club at Morse offers an exciting mixed-age learning environment designed to engage students of different ages while ensuring each child receives age-appropriate instruction and challenges. The program welcomes students ages 4–6 through our Bricks Challenge curriculum and students ages 7–10 through Galileo Technic.

To create the best learning experience, the class will have two dedicated instructors — one focusing on the younger group (ages 4–6) and another on the older group (ages 7–10). This structure allows every student to explore hands-on engineering activities suited to their age and skill level, while still enjoying the collaborative and inspiring atmosphere of a mixed-age setting.

About the Programs

Bricks Challenge (Ages 4–6)
The Bricks Challenge program combines STEM education with spatial recognition, helping children build a strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals. Through fun, hands-on LEGO®-based projects, students explore how real-world machines work while connecting theory with practice.

Along the way, they learn about famous inventors and scientists such as Archimedes and Leonardo da Vinci — discovering how curiosity and creativity drive innovation. Students are introduced to key concepts in classical mechanics, including forces, energy, torque, leverage, load distribution, symmetry, centrifugal force, and mechanical advantage. Each session helps them strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills, building knowledge and confidence in STEM learning.

Galileo Technic (Ages 7–10)
The Galileo Technic program takes budding engineers deeper into the world of mechanical design and engineering principles. Students build and study complex models — from manual cars to oscillating fans — learning through discovery and exploration. Each lesson focuses on a specific machine or concept, such as gear shifting, gearbox mechanisms, and transmission ratios, while exploring motion in its many forms: circular, linear, elliptical, and oscillatory.

As students progress, they examine advanced topics such as asymmetry, angular momentum, gyroscopes, universal joints, kinematic chains, elastic force, and energy transfer between potential and kinetic forms. This program not only strengthens students’ technical understanding but also fuels their natural curiosity and passion for discovering how things work.
